It analyses how the generosity of social policies – understood as the combination of their inclusiveness and the scope of benefits they offer – has been conceptualised in different socialist and post-socialist national contexts, how these conceptualisations have shaped the content of social policies, and finally, how the content of social policies has actually been implemented. Thus, the contributions include the ideational, de jure and de facto aspects of social policy in socialist and post-socialist contexts.</text>

<text>This open access book studies disability inclusion in humanitarian crises. It addresses the challenges of recognizing and including persons with disabilities and indicates the degree to which disability is being mainstreamed in international law and humanitarian action. Further, it explores how international organizations have promoted a rights-based understanding of disability in international law, and to what extent this understanding has gained acceptance in humanitarian policy and practice. Theoretically, Funke and Dijkzeul explore the robustness of the disability inclusion norm cluster during processes of institutionalization, translation, and implementation. The book examines these processes from a multi-level perspective, which involves a variety of actors beyond states, including organizations of persons with disabilities. Situating their analysis within the literature on humanitarian action and development, the authors argue for an increased focus on processes “below” the international level in international relations and international law scholarship to better understand disability inclusion.

From the perspective of area studies, the risks faced by more fragile developing countries in an environment of uncertainty and the resilience and interdependency exhibited in the face of risks were discussed. The discussion was a brave attempt by the IIAS to inject more certainty into the uncertain world. A total of 131 papers by scholars from various countries were presented in this forum. After the forum, the editorial group of the IIAS Forum Proceedings selected ten outstanding papers and compiled them under the title “Risk, Resilience and Interdependency: Developing Countries in the Age of Uncertainty.”</text>

<text>This open access book addresses the problem of global urban development that excludes various groups of people from the benefits of urban growth and sustainable development. Using the intersectionality and agency of urban dwellers and citizens, it outlines possibilities of responsive urban governance that builds on principles of the inclusive city. The book's first section presents various cases of digital, smart, logistical, and green infrastructure that drive a city's growth and sustainable development while excluding various citizens from these benefits. The second and third sections focus on the intersectionality and agency of urban citizens vulnerable to marginalization in different urban contexts—such as the elderly, people with various physical and mental challenges, women, and children. The last section presents the cases of potential forms of responsive governance and possibilities for future inclusive city planning and development. This book appeals to students of urban and development studies and planning and related disciplines, such as human and cultural geography, applied anthropology, sociology, sustainability sciences, architecture, and design. It is also helpful for activists and practitioners as illustrative cases presented in the book show various experiences and possibilities for making a city inclusive.</text>

<text>Each stage of the body's immune response relies on the presence of nutrients. The energy and nutrient needs of the immune system can be met from exogenous diets. Dietary components can influence the development and maintenance of the immune system or play a very specific role in reducing chronic inflammation. The healthy diet regulates the fine balance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators and immune cells to help the immune system fight infection. They can also protect our bodies from harmful autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammatory diseases or cancer, and fetal infection following cancer or before harmful autoimmune diseases. In contrast, malnutrition or excessive intake of micronutrients can impair immune function. For example, iron supplementation will increase morbidity and mortality in those in malaria-endemic regions. Researchers have always had many questions about nutrition and the immune system: How can different dietary components effectively treat immune deficiencies associated with inadequate intake? Can specific nutritional interventions further enhance immune function in subclinical settings to prevent inflammatory disease infection or chronic disease? The authors of papers included in this Special Issue shared some valuable knowledge, including but not limited to research on different dietary components related to the immune system. Ultimately, we hope that this reprint will be useful for clinical practitioners and inspire further innovative research.</text>

<text>This Special Issue on “Application of Fermentation Technology in Animal Nutrition” comprises 11 original research articles and 1 communication. Collectively, these contributions illustrate the promising future of fermentation technology in animal nutrition research, one that is committed to both tradition and innovation, with the objective of advancing the frontiers of fermentation science. Altogether, this Special Issue presents several original studies in the field of animal nutrition, including research on co-ensiling technology, silage additives, rumen fermentation, and related topics. These findings could help to improve feed resources, optimize silage quality and improve animal performance. As this Special Issue draws to a close, it is obvious that the field of silage research is not merely evolving, but undergoing a revolution. The challenges that lie ahead are considerable, but so are the opportunities. By addressing these challenges and pursuing the research directions outlined above, it is possible to ensure that fermentation technology will remain a critical aspect of animal nutrition, meeting the evolving needs of animal husbandry.</text>

<text>The following is the reprint of the Special Issue “Environmental and Health Issues and Solutions for Anticoccidials and other Emerging Pollutants of Special Concern”, which could be seen as a continuation of the previous Special Issue focusing on “New Research on the Detection and Removal of Emerging Pollutants”. Although associated with the current Topic, a variety of journals were open to submissions in relation to this SI, with the manuscripts ultimately accepted and published included in just two of them: the journals Processes (seven papers, including the Editorial) and Sustainability (three papers). This overall set of publications contributes to shedding further light on the wide field of pollution and remediation focused on emerging pollutants, with this Topic aiming to encourage additional research and for researchers to pay special attention to all aspects related to anticoccidial antibiotics. With the SI now closed, the Guest Editors would like to thank all of the research teams who submitted their papers, providing high-quality contributions. However, it is clear that many more research initiatives, projects, experiments, data, and analyses are needed, and we hope that this SI will serve as a stimulus for going forward and delving deeper into this crucial field of investigation, which would have a significant impact on environmental and public health.</text>
