<text>This reprint focuses on applied research on growth traits, fat reserves, fatty acid profiles and enriched diets and their effects on reproduction, health status and welfare. The studies contained in the volume have been carried out in both monogastric organisms and ruminants, fish, broilers or pigeons. Fundamental studies with rats or mice are also presented. The reader will find novel research about the effects of the degree of fatness and muscularity determined by ultrasound method on sows´ reproductive performance, genetic studies on fatty acid profiles and growth traits in rabbits and Gilthead Seabream; nutritional studies addressing diets enriched with bee pollen in rats, postbiotics in male rabbits, concentrate and bypass supplementations in buffaloes; and interesting studies on the welfare assessment of meat sheep, rabbits, racing pigeons, broilers, alpacas and llamas using body condition measurements.</text>

<text>Bone is a specialized connective tissue with the ability to regenerate following injury and trauma. However, when the extension of bone loss exceeds the regenerative capacity of tissue, additional treatments are required; these have been investigated by scientists and clinicians, and include biological and material approaches and their combination. This Special Issue, entitled “Bone Regeneration and Repair Materials”, is composed of 14 original and 2 review articles that can be grouped into the following three categories: (1) physicochemical and mechanical characterizations of biomaterials for bone regeneration and implants; (2) strategies to induce bone repair using biomaterials and/or cells; and (3) titanium implants. This collection of information covers the diverse range of materials and approaches that have emerged as promising and powerful tools in regenerative medicine in order to promote bone repair, regeneration, and implant osseointegration. Additionally, this Special Issue elucidates the need to understand the cellular mechanisms involved in the interactions between bones and materials in the search for optimized and smart therapies, with patient well-being always being the primary focus.</text>

<text>Bone tumour management is a rapidly evolving field, thanks to ongoing successful research. This book is a comprehensive review of selected topics that have seen rapid change over the last decade. Arranged in an easy-read format, it contains three sections: the first discusses general topics pertaining to bone tumours; the second is devoted to breast carcinoma; and a larger final section concerns sarcomas and their management. This book explains complex topics in an easy-to-understand format, elegantly presented by a group of eminent researchers. It is a must-have book for researchers, scientists and clinicians, including medical students, oncologists, orthopaedic surgeons, and anyone who manages bone tumours. The book may serve as a CME (continuing medical education) tool for those wishing to update their knowledge on bone tumours.</text>

<text>For more than 20 years now, the publishing industry has been highly influenced by innovations in digital technology. This is not the first time that technological changes affect the book trade. Both the printing press and industrialized production methods vitally changed the book industry in their time. With a macroscopic, comparative approach, this book looks at the transitional phases of the book of the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries to locate distinctive patterns in the acceptance of new technologies. Using specific book value categories, which shape the acceptance context of innovations in book production, helps us find continuities and discontinuities of these patterns. It also offers a better understanding of current developments in publishing in the digital age.</text>

<text>"This book presents the theory and practice of impact assessment tailored to new border control technologies that are increasingly employed at state borders with the aim of facilitating border checks. Experience has shown that their use often comes into conflict with societal values such as the respect for fundamental rights to privacy and personal data protection. As a result, there is a growing need to accommodate two requirements, the first being the deployment of new border control technologies and the second being the respect for relevant societal values. This book introduces a tool that seeks to accommodate both requirements: impact assessment. Impact assessment is an evaluation technique used to analyse the potential future consequences of a given measure for societal values. The main objective of the assessment process is to support informed decision-making about whether or not, and under what conditions, to deploy a given measure. Border Control and New Technologies. Addressing Integrated Impact Assessment is addressed predominantly to border control authorities in the European Union and in the Schengen Area who wish to ensure that new technologies for controlling state borders respect the principles of democracy, the rule of law and human rights. The book will be of interest also for border control officials elsewhere in the world as well as for anyone dealing with the theory and practice of impact assessment."</text>

<text>The pestiviruses encompass some of the most economically important viral infections in the cattle, swine, and sheep industries worldwide. Discovered more than 70 years ago, bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) and classical swine fever virus (CSFV) were long the main concern, but many new pestiviruses have emerged in recent years, which may also present additional threats to biosecurity and food safety. This issue brings together contributions from multiple disciplines – virology, immunology, veterinary clinical medicine, epidemiology, and pathology – on the subject of BVDV and related pestiviruses, and cover host–virus interactions, virus–cell interactions, cross-species transmission as well as the role of wildlife species as reservoirs of some of the pestiviruses.</text>
