The World Health Organization estimates there were more than 10 million new cases and reported more than 1.5 million deaths in 2019, making TB one of the leading causes of death from a single pathogen. Standard anti-TB therapy includes four first-line antibiotics that must be given for at least six months. Without knowledge about which needs and which social groups are currently inadequately covered, it is impossible to guide policy development.
